To promote a smooth and effective learning journey, piano lessons will be organized in accordance with the academic school calendar. Fees will be calculated on a per-term basis, reflecting the number of weeks in each term. In order to maintain consistent progress, students are permitted to cancel up to two lessons per term, with a strong preference for rescheduling these lessons whenever possible.
• Lessons schedule
Our piano lessons are typically scheduled for the school Term, as sometimes changes in the students activities vary in the next Term. Once a mutually convenient day and time are agreed upon by both the teacher and student, that specific time slot will be reserved exclusively for the student. Sometimes changes occurs, but is important to recognize that I am organizing the schedule by areas and sometimes is very difficult to move a student to another day.
I understand that sometimes plans change, and I'm happy to accommodate rescheduling when possible. I kindly ask that you notify me by 7 PM the day before your scheduled lesson, if you need to make any changes. The earlier you can inform me, the better.
Adjusting the schedule can be challenging due to my teaching commitments across different areas on various days, and it may also affect other students commitments. Please do your best to arrange other appointments (doctor, dentist, tutoring, counseling, etc.) on days and times that do not overlap with your piano lessons. Thank you for your understanding and cooperation!
To make good progress in learning the piano, regular attendance is essential for your advancement and success. Missing more than two lessons per term may slow your advancement. If you find it necessary to miss a lesson, I kindly suggest considering a rescheduled makeup lesson whenever possible.
Please be aware that if a lesson is canceled on the day it is scheduled more than once per term, it may not be possible to offer a reschedule or refund. However, I understand that unexpected situations, such as health concerns, can arise, and exceptions will be made in such cases.
I always strive to be flexible and fair, and I deeply value your commitment to our lessons. I genuinely appreciate your respect for my time and efforts. Your cooperation in this regard is greatly valued.
The number of lessons is calculated based on the number of school
weeks in each academic Term. Payment is required at the beginning of each Term to reserve a slot specifically for you.
If you are a new student, you can pay for the first two lessons at the
time of each lesson, allowing you to decide whether you want to continue.
Usually 5 1/2 - 6 years old is a good beginning. It’s not so much about the age as it is about attention span and behavior. Students need to be able to engage with an instructor for a half hour by following basic verbal instructions and answering basic verbal questions. That said, in my 20+ years of experience,I do have ways of making lessons more entertaining or shifting from one activity to another when a child gets distracted. For children around 4 to 5 years old, I recommend a "music appreciation" approach. This involves activities like singing, clapping to a rhythm, and learning basic music concepts, rather than focusing solely on playing the instrument. This helps build the foundational skills and keeps young children engaged and interested in music.
Yes, I most certainly can. I work with students of all ages and levels from all walks of life. Congratulations for being willing to try something new!
Absolutely! With over 20 years of experience, I specialize in preparing students for piano exams at all levels, whether it's through the Trinity College of London or the Associated Board of the Royal Schools of Music (ABRSM). I provide tailored lesson plans, focused practice techniques, and detailed feedback to help each student achieve their highest potential. My students have consistently succeeded in their exams, earning high marks and recognition for their skills and dedication. Whether you're a beginner or an advanced student, I am committed to guiding you through every step of your musical journey.
Consistency is more important than long infrequent practice sessions. In general, a young beginner should aim towards 10 minutes a day where as an experienced player should be aiming for 40 mins or more. Parents' encouragement and support in practice and materials are crucial for younger students' success.
Students who are learning to play the piano should strongly consider getting either a piano or a digital piano to practice at home between lessons. Practicing regularly on their own instrument is crucial for progress. If you need advice on choosing the right instrument, feel free to ask me.
At the end of each school year, I am organizing an annual piano recitals for my students. These recitals mark the culmination of a year's dedication, practice, and artistic growth. More than just performances, they are transformative experiences that significantly contribute to the development of students' musical abilities and personal growth.
Yes,I do teach,as the holidays are an excellent time for students to take advantage of this period to make significant progress and enrich their musical abilities and offers a perfect opportunity to keep children engaged.
I believe in creating a personalized approach for each student, adjusting to their pace, age, and specific interests. Though some people like to learn by imitation, or by ear as we call it, and though it can allow you to play fairly nice sounding pieces quickly, the big disadvantage of spending too much time using this approach is that you will not learn how to read notes, and within a year you will reach a plateau and lose motivation. My approach will be a combination of playing from a book and possibly learning a piece by ear from time to time to maintain motivation. You will also learn some basic music theory as you learn your pieces and apply this theory to your playing.
